Perissa beach is widely considered the best beach in
Santorini, it's down in the south east corner of the island and around 12km from the capital
Fira which would take about 20 to 25 minutes to drive.
The beach is made up of black sand that's and is well over a kilometre long before it merges into
Perivolos beach. At it's widest it's over 50m so there's plenty of room for everyone despite it being a very popular beach.
Perissa beach has everything with loads of beach side bars, good quality umbrellas and sun loungers as well as a fantastic selection of water sports to keep everyone entertained. You might even find that the sun loungers are free when buying food and drink from the associated bars. Another thing to try here is snorkelling, there’s a good amount of fish in the area and the water is crystal clear.
If you enjoy walking along the sand then can take a nice walk between Perissa and Perivolos, it takes about half an hour so perhaps best avoided in the mid day heat but definitely a good stroll in the morning or early evening.
Getting to Perissa beach is simple as it runs along the side of the village and there are multiple roads that head down that way. There’s a long road that runs alongside the beach where you can park your hire car or quad bike. Along this road there's also restaurants, bars and shops.
