La Scala is a sandy beach on the north coast of
Thassos between
Glyfada beach and
Papalimani beach. It's less than 4km outside of
Limenas the islands capital and that's just 5 minutes in the car or a 45 minute walk if you're feeling energetic.
It's a small beach, just under 150m from east to west and between 10-25 metres deep. The water gets deep pretty quickly so perhaps not ideal for young families. The seating area does extend behind the beach meaning there's loads of room, even for large groups.
La Scala beach is very popular for a couple of reasons, it's in a great location for anyone staying in Limenas and it has a chillout style bar with music, luxury loungers and good atmosphere. There's table service available for drinks and snacks as well as WiFi so you don't use up all your data. In the evenings there's often a DJ and La Scala beach turns into a party destination.
There's pedalos to hire and a small water sports hut at the eastern end of the beach for ringos and other adrenaline rides. Other facilities include toilets, showers, changing cubicles and even mobile device charging points in some places.
Some people wont enjoy the feel of La Scala beach, the music, the tightly packed in loungers, water sports and the upbeat nature aren't to everyone's tastes, particularly those that prefer a quiet relaxing day at the beach. If however you like the high end feel and having a bit more entertainment throughout your day on the beach then you can't go far wrong, especially if you fancy a delicious cocktail or two while you're there.
Finding La Scala beach is simple, just head out on the main coastal road to the west of Limenas and La Scala beach is signposted on the right hand side from the main road. Once you arrive there's space to park and a short walk through the bar area to the water front.
