Antisamos beach is close to the resort of
Sami on the east coast of
Kefalonia and just over 45 minutes from the capital
Argostoli. Antisamos is famous as it was the location for some of the filming of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
Antisamos is a pebble beach that has loungers out the front of the two tavernas, some would say the loungers are a little too tightly packed but that does mean that there is plenty of unspoilt space away from the tavernas if you bring your own chairs or a simple towel to lay out. Just remember to wear some beach shoes as those pebbles can be a little uncomfortable to walk on.
The beach can get busy so arrive early in high season if you want to get a premium spot. There are water sports available on Antisamos beach including jetskis, banana boats, pedalos, canoeing, water skiing and many more which is great if you need to keep teenagers or those that are easily bored entertained throughout the day.
Also, to keep you entertained, there’s music played from the tavernas, there’s also table service from the chic beach bar if you’re renting one of their sun loungers.
Getting to Antisamos beach is no problem, the beach is easily found if you head north from Sami, once there you’ll find a decent size free car park at the rear of the beach.
