Petani Beach is a sandy bay with pebbles around the shore line. It’s located on the west cost of
Kefalonia, just north of
Lixouri.
The main part of the beach is over 500m long, there’s a couple of tavernas around the path that leads down to the beach and in front of the tavernas is where you’ll find the sun loungers that are available to hire.
The Bay is backed by high cliffs which offer some natural shade, there are also a number of large rocks on the beach so be careful if you have youngsters in your group.
There’s no water sports on Petani beach but you can rent a pedalo to explore the coast. In any case, you don’t come here for a lively day at the beach, you come here to enjoy the natural beauty of the place and relax in the tranquil surroundings.
Petani has a smaller secluded beach just past the rocks at either end, the northern end is sometimes used by nudists so keep this in mind if you’re the type of person that wants to strip off or if you’d rather avoid it altogether.
Getting to Petani beach is simple, just head for the Palliki peninsula and take the main northerly road. There’s parking available on the road behind the beach as well as a couple of designated parking areas.
