Watching the sunset in Oia is probably one of the most popular things to do in
Santorini so don’t expect to enjoy it by yourself. It is still an amazing view and you’ll probably find yourself waiting for the sunset on more than one evening. If you fancy a change one night you could head over and enjoy the
sunset in Fira instead, although the views will be similar, why restrict yourself to just one aspect of this beautiful event?
Your best bet is to book a table early at a restaurant that has Caldera view and simply sit and enjoy the sunset with a carafe of wine and that special person. If you don’t book early you’re likely to be sat one or two tables back from the balcony and wont have the best view. Alternatively there are plenty of walls around the village where you can sit and enjoy the spectacle, just remember to get there early or you’ll find yourself looking over someones shoulder.
Also, don’t forget your camera as you’ll want to try and capture the beauty of this event, we’d recommend using a mini tripod like these
GorillaPods on Amazon so you can get a nice long exposure or even a time lapse as the sun goes down. Feel free to share your pictures with us using our contact form below and we’ll feature the best on this page.
If you’re not staying in
Oia then get the bus or a taxi in for the evening, if you have a hire car then there are plenty of places to park up either at the side of the road or in one of the designated car parks.
