Koukounaries is probably the most popular beach in
Skiathos, and with good reason, it’s a picture perfect beach with fine white sand, crystal clear water and pine trees lining the shore.
Getting to Koukounaries beach couldn’t be easier, if you have your own transport then head south west on the main road pretty much as far as it goes and then follow the signs, if using the bus then hop off at stop 26, which is the end of the line. There’s ample parking and you can also nip round to
Big Banana beach as well while you’re in the area.
Some people would say that Koukounaries beach has been spoiled in recent years with the sunbeds too closely packed together. Others simply see it as well organised and well looked after with all the facilities that visitors need.
Koukounaries beach has a good selection of water sports, a volleyball net and multiple tavernas serving food, drink and snacks as well as playing music. The beach is around 700m long so it’s great for those that like to walk along the shore line.
With Koukounaries being the most popular beach on the island it will be busy at all times, especially in the high season. That doesn’t mean it’s not worth a visit, just know what to expect and get there early if you want a premium spot.
