Big Banana beach is one of the most well known and popular beaches on
Skiathos. Big Banana beach is located on the west coast, close to
Koukounaries beach. If you’re using the buses then jump off at stop 26. There is parking available at the bus stop area if you arrive by car, from there you can walk the path, past the new apartments down to the beach. It’ll take around 8-10 minutes.
Since the new apartments have been built behind Banana beach the place has changed, where it used to have a couple of tavernas competing to play the loudest music and sell the most drinks to young revellers, now it has a single hut supplying the drinks and playing the music.
There are tightly packed rows of luxury sun loungers in the middle of the beach, some of which are reserved for the hotels guests. Others are rented out at a much higher fee than is usual for Skiathos islands beaches so bear that in mind if you’re planning on visiting.
Water sports are still available on Big Banana beach and so are pedalos so there’s something to keep you entertained if you don’t want to simply top up your tan and listen to the music all day.
The reason this beach is called Big Banana is because there is another one called
Small Banana beach that is just north of this beach and is the islands only official nudist beach.
