Xenia beach is a long sandy beach just west of
Koukounaries in
Skiathos. It's also known as Ampelakia beach which is sometimes spelt Ambelakia.
To get there take the bus and get off at stop 26, from the bus stop take the dirt road up towards
Banana beach by the side of Koukounaries and turn left at the top this takes you on a bit of a trek down the hillside to Xenia. If arriving by car your best bet is to park at the bottom of the dirt track by the bus stop and walk the rest of the way as there’s little to no parking past that point.
Xenia beach is surrounded by pine trees which offer some much needed shade in the hottest months. Children will enjoy Xenia as it has soft sand that’s great for digging or building sand castles. They can also paddle in the shallows without it getting too deep, in fact you can get out 10-20 metres in places and still be able to touch the bottom.
The beach bar, called Mystique, plays music and has some of the best facilities on the island, the music and atmosphere is aimed at the younger crowds with cocktails to bring in the more lively travellers so expect Xenia beach, particularly the end with the beach bar to be busy most of the time, especially in high season.
Away from the beach bar there’s often room to simply lay out a towel, particularly if you paddle round the rocks at the northern end, past these there’s a small section that’s often a lot quieter than the main beach.
