he open air cinema is located on Papadiamantis street in
Skiathos town, just a couple of minutes walk from the harbour.
The cinema is open during the peak summer months and shows a variety of films, one of which is a regular that’s always popular and that’s the Abba musical film Mamma Mia!, most likely because it’s a fun sing-along style movie that was filmed, in part, on the island.
The open air cinema normally gets booked up quite early so try to organise your trip with your travel company prior to arriving or pop along at the beginning of you holiday to book for later in the week.
Along with the film you can get a bottle of wine or other drink as well as some food too. These are sometimes sold as a package at the travel agent shops on the island so look out for a good deal as you walk around if this is something you’re interested in doing.
As the name suggests, the cinema is in a building with no roof so you get to enjoy the movie under the night sky, there’s room for about 200 people and it can get quite lively with people singing along to the Abba songs which makes for a great night.
Screenings cost around 8.50€ but you should also expect to pay a small premium for food and drink whilst in the cinema.
