Skala Maries beach is found at the southern end of the west coast of Thassos. It’s the main beach in the town of
Skala Maries, the others being
Platanes beach to the north and
Atspas beach to the south.
Skala Maries beach is just 70m wide and 25m deep, it’s mainly coarse sand but with some stones and shingle in places. There’s sun loungers available to hire as well as toilets and showers too. It’s not one of the more popular beaches on the island but as it’s so small it doesn’t take many people before it starts to fill up.

There’s a taverna on the beach serving food and drinks but as you’re in the main resort there’s no shortage of places to visit for lunch that are well within easy walking distance. There’s no beach sports available so teens could get bored, younger kids will love playing in the shallow crystal clear water and as the bay is set back it’s usually pretty calm and safe.
Getting to Skala Maries beach is simple as it’s just off the main coastal road, there’s parking available in and around the village but the streets are narrow so parking can be tricky, there’s no specific car parking area at the beach.
