Alyki or Aliki is a tiny village based around two back-to-back beaches. It’s roughly 30km from the capital
Limenas and that’s about a 40-45 drive along the beautiful coastal road that runs down the east coast of
Thassos.
There isn’t much to Alyki as it’s really just a few places to stay and a couple of tavernas around a beautiful pair of beaches. There’s a mini market just above the beach but not much else, you wont find an ATM or a car hire outlet so you’ll have to visit nearby
Potos or
Skala Potamia for those kind of facilities.
Because it’s such a small area with not much in the way of facilities it’s pretty quiet most of the time, however, Alyki beach is one of the most popular on the island so that does get busy throughout the summer months.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Alyki page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
There’s not much in the way of nightlife in Alyki, you’ll probably just spend the evenings in the hotel or one of the tavernas with a nice evening meal, a few drinks and a gorgeous sunset.
You wont find anywhere to go clubbing or late night bars with music or other entertainment so if you want to stay in the area then you’ll likely be someone that values peace and quiet rather than a night out partying.
What Alyki does have is the gorgeous
Alyki Beach as well as the 2000 year old archaeological site which you can read more about on our
Alyki Archaeological site page.
Also in the area of Aliki is the remains of an old marble quarry where a lot of the Thassos stone was excavated from, it was this stone that was used to build a large proportion of the buildings on the island.
Also, just 10 km down the coast is the natural rock pool called
Giola that’s well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
