Skala Prinos is on the north west coast of
Thassos, it’s just 17km from the islands capital
Limenas and that’s around a 15-20 minute drive.
The town is based around the islands second major port with regular ferries from Kavala on the mainland which takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The village itself is small with just a handful of restaurants around the waters edge and a selection of hotels, guest houses and villas in the surrounding area, including a large 4 star beach front hotel with private pools and a section of beach that they manage.
There’s a single supermarket at the harbour front as well as a car hire outlet and a cash machine too.
Skala Prinos also has a working shipyard so if you’re interested you can head to the western end of the beach and see the Greeks working on repairing boats.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Skala Prinos page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The nightlife in Skala Prinos is based around the harbour and beach, there’s a few bars and restaurants where you can have a meal and a few drinks but don’t expect to be out drinking and/or dancing into the small hours, it’s not that kind of place.
If you want a more lively night out then take the short trip to Limenas and visit some of the bars there.
Skala Prinos has a great beach as well as easy access to the sandy beaches on the north coast. Take a look at
Glyfoneri beach,
Glikadi beach or
Papalimanari beach.
There’s a museum called the Olive Oil museum on the outskirts of the village and it shows some of the equipment that was used in the past to make olive oil as well as selling some local oil so that can be worth a visit.
The close proximity to Limenas means you can easily head into the capital whenever you want, either to visit the historical sites like the
Ancient Agora and the
Acropolis of Thassos or to visit the
Museum of Archaeology.
