Porto Koukla beach is in the bay of
Laganas, south west of
Agios Sostis beach in
Zakynthos (Zante). It’s half way between
Laganas beach and
Keri beach. If you’re coming from
Zakynthos Town then it’s around 13km away which is just over a 20 minute drive.
The sandy beach is narrow at just 10m but stretches for around 200m. There’s a single row of sun loungers at the northern end close to the taverna. The taverna is on the grass verge above the beach with some steps leading up to it and offers lovely views out to
Marathonisi island.
Porto Koukla beach is good for kids as there’s enough space for them to play and the sand makes it possible to build sandcastles or play bat and ball. There’s no water sports so perhaps not ideal for thrill seeking teens.
At the southern end of the beach there’s a pedalo and boat hire business so if you want to explore the area then this is a great option.
Getting to the beach can be a little tricky, there’s no signs and no major roads heading down to the beach. It’s easier to find Agios Sostis beach and then walk to Koukla from there.
This is probably the best bet if you’re arriving by car as there’s not much parking available around Porto Koukla beach but there is some parking at the southern end of Agios Sostis beach where it joins Koukla beach.
If you want to stay near by then there’s a number of good options from the large Porto Koukla beach hotel and Gloria Maris hotel as well as other smaller hotels, apartments and studios also available.
