Porto Vromi is a picturesque bay with a pair of beaches on the west coast of
Zakynthos (Zante), just south of
Navagio beach. It’s around 35km from the islands capital,
Zakynthos Town and that drive would take you close to an hour.
Despite the two beaches being just 250m apart as the crow flies, there’s no direct link between them. Instead, if you want to go from one to the other you have to take a 16km drive via
Anafonitira and
Maries. For this reason the most northern beach is known as Porto Vromi Anafonitria as it’s closest to Anafonitria and the other, which is closer to Maries is called Porto Vromi Maries.
Both beaches are small at around 25m wide and both have pebbles rather than sand, there’s small harbours on each one where you can board a boat trip that takes you around the
Blue Caves and Navagio Beach too, both of which are close by.
There’s no taverna on either beach so bring what you need with you, there is sometimes pedalos available to hire from Porto Vromi Maries but no water sports so not much to keep kids entertained and with boats coming and going regularly we can’t recommend either for kids.
Parking is available at both but due to the boat tours they can be busy, not normally full though. Some roadside parking is available if it does fill up.
