Svoronata is a village in
Kefalonia about a kilometre inland close to the south west corner of the island. It’s a short 5 minute drive from the airport and just under 15 minutes from the capital
Argostoli.
There’s no real village centre in Svoronata, it’s quite spread out with hotels, villas and apartments dotted around the gorgeous scenery of olive groves and wild flowers. There’s all different types of accommodation available from private villas, to large hotels with pools and spa facilities.
As mentioned, Svoronata is spread over a large area so best for people who don’t mind a walk before and after their evening meal, luckily the terrain is fairly flat making the walk easier.
The village has all the usual facilities like supermarkets, car hire outlets and plenty of restaurants. There’s no cash machines though, the nearest one is actually at the airport.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Svoronata page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
There’s no clubs but there are a couple of bars with music that stay open late and many restaurants will do you a cocktail so you can have a night out if you want.
In general, people that come to Svoronata are looking to be away from the crowds of the main tourist resorts so this is somewhere to relax and enjoy a slow pace to your Greek island holiday.
Svoronata can act as a good base to explore the island as you have easy access to the main roads towards
Skala or Argosotoli, alternatively, head north east to
Sami,
Assos,
Myrtos beach or
Fiskardo.
The Castle of Saint George is less than 10km away, that’s about a 15 minute drive and it’s worth visiting just for the views alone.
Although Svoronata is inland there are a number of decent beaches that are about 30-40 minutes walk away or just a few minutes in a hire car or taxi.
