Agios Georgios beach is in the same region as
Perissa and
Perivolos on the south east of
Santorini island. It's just over 11km from the islands capital
Fira and that would take around 20 minutes in the car.
It has similar characteristics with mainly black sand and the odd pebble or small stones. There's minimal natural shade with just the odd tree dotted about at the rear of the beach. Behind the trees is a small road and beyond that is an almost endless choice of tavernas and shops to get drinks, snacks and ice creams.
Agios Georgios beach has been getting more and more popular in recent years and has now become quite busy with beach side tavernas and bars, some luxury wooden loungers and other beach furniture to hire as well as music and water sports for entertainment.
There are still some spaces to lay out a towel but you’ll have to move along the beach away from the bars to get some peace and quiet.
If you're arriving at Agios Georgios beach by car or other vehicle then there's a few parking areas available at various sections along the rear of the beach so you should be able to find a space.
