Firostefani is a small village located just north of the capital
Fira on the west coast of
Santorini. It’s kind of a continuation of Fira as it’s hard to know where Fira ends and Firostefani begins.
Firostefani offers similar spectacular views out over the Caldera to what’s on offer in the capital but in a quieter more relaxed atmosphere and this is what makes it a great option for where to stay as it’s a short 15 minute walk from the centre of Fira which means you can experience the nightlife of the main town but still get a bit of peace and quiet too.
The coastal path between Firostefani and Fira is a lovely and therefore popular walk, particularly in the early morning or early evening while it’s not too hot.
The village itself has plenty of restaurants, bars and shops, mainly along the central street, so even if you don’t plan on leaving the resort you’ve got everything you need on the doorstep, it would seem a bit of a waste though to have Fira so close and not take a trip there at least once.
We’d recommend Firostefani for couples who want to be on the caldera but also want a quiet and relaxing break. Firostefani isn’t really great for kids as it’s a 20 minute drive to the beach and there isn’t a great deal to keep little ones entertained.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Firostefani page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
Nightlife in Firostefani is good, there's a load of restaurants with several types of food available from traditional Greek to barbecue, Italian and even Sushi.
There's also plenty of trendy cocktail bars for those that like a night out or a couple of delicious drinks after their evening meal.
If you want a really lively night out then you can easily walk to Fira and enjoy the clubs and bars on offer there so Firostefani can be a great choice for all nightlife tastes.
Firostefanis in a great location, it's so close to Fira that you can walk between the two, that means you can enjoy the sights of the capital with ease. Whether that's a trip down to the old port on the
Santorini cable car or a visit to the
Museum of Prehistoric Thera.
Another option is to head north to
Imerovigli where you'll find
Skaros Rock which is a nice place to have a walk round.
