Imerovigli is a small traditional village that lies at the highest point of the caldera, just north of
Fira and
Firostefani on the west coast of
Santorini. Imerovigli offers amazing views of the caldera, has the traditional narrow cobbled streets and white washed buildings with blue domed roofs that you expect from Santorini.
Imerovigli has plenty of bars, restaurants and shops to keep you busy, plus you are only 2km from the buzzing nightlife of Fira in case you fancy a bit of extra evening entertainment.
As with the other villages on the caldera side of Santorini, you’ll find restaurants with a volcano view to be the most expensive, the same goes for hotels but Imerovigli is cheaper than Fira and Oia so definitely worth considering.
We’d recommend Imerovigli for those wanting a quieter more relaxing break than you’d get in the capital but who still want to be able to have a meal or a drink in the evenings whilst taking in the views that Santorini is famous for.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Imerovigli page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The nightlife in Imerovigli is pretty low key, it's got plenty of restaurants, some with amazing views and some in town. There's also a bunch of bars including cocktail bars and champagne bars too, again some with views and some without.
If you want a more lively night out then you'd be best off heading for the capital where there's clubs and lots more to keep you entertained.
Close to Imerovigli is
Skaros rock which is a rocky headland right on the edge of the village, it’s also home to the remains of a 13th-century Venetian palace so well worth checking out and the perfect place for a hike if you’re feeling up to it.
If you're interested in history then why not head south to Fira and check out the
Museum of Prehistoric Thera. It's a relatively small museum but has some good info and artefacts from life on the island hundreds or even thousands of years ago.
