Maratha beach is found in the south west of
Skiathos just round the corner from
Koukounaries beach. It’s a little over 10km from
Skiathos Town which would take roughly 20 minutes to drive and there’s a small amount of roadside parking once you arrive. If using the bus then get off at stop 22 and take the short walk down the main road to the beach.
Maratha beach is around 250m wide but really slim with golden sand, it’s lined with pine trees making it shady at some points in the day, this can either be a welcome break from the heat or it’ll be a disappointment depending on how much you love being out in the sun.
Maratha beach has a taverna to get some food and drink as well as a single row of sun beds with umbrellas to hire. There’s no water sports but the entrance to the water is shallow making it good for kids. Although Maratha beach is narrow it doesn’t feel crowded as the loungers aren’t too closely packed together and there’s a bit of room between the loungers and the entrance to the sea.
There’s no toilet on the beach which can be awkward, the nearest one is a few minutes walk back up the hill to the nearby hotel.
