Rachoni is perched on the side of the mountain up in the north west of Thassos island. It’s under 10 minutes, roughly 5km from the coastal region of Skala Rachoni and just 20 minutes from the islands capital Limenas.
Rachoni is the second largest Olive growing village on the island. It’s not a developed tourist village but a tranquil and relaxing place to take in the surroundings and have a wander about. This is unlikely to be somewhere that you’d choose to stay for your entire holiday as there really isn’t enough to do for most people but there is one hotel and a handful of tavernas so you can stay in Rachoni if you want to.
If you’re visiting Rachoni be sure to take in the central square which is the perfect spot to stop for a drink or some lunch, also visit the church of the assumption which is a 19th century church with a statue of the virgin Mary.
