Rachoni is perched on the side of the mountain up in the north west of
Thassos island. It’s under 10 minutes, roughly 5km from the coastal region of
Skala Rachoni and just 20 minutes from the islands capital
Limenas.
Rachoni is the second largest Olive growing village on the island. It’s not a developed tourist village but a tranquil and relaxing place to take in the surroundings and have a wander about. This is unlikely to be somewhere that you’d choose to stay for your entire holiday as there really isn’t enough to do for most people but there is one hotel and a handful of tavernas so you can stay in Rachoni if you want to.
If you’re visiting Rachoni be sure to take in the central square which is the perfect spot to stop for a drink or some lunch, also visit the church of the assumption which is a 19th century church with a statue of the virgin Mary.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Rachoni page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
Nightlife in Rachoni is minimal, there's no bars or entertainment like karaoke or live music but that's perfect if you simply want to enjoy a nice meal and few glasses of wine, beer or Ouzo of an evening.
If you want slightly more entertainment then nearby Skala Rachoni is the closest place to go, it has more restaurants and bars with water front views.
Rachoni is in a decent location as it's close to the capital so you can take regular trips to enjoy everything Limenas has to offer.
You're also pretty close to some great beaches, those on the north coast like
Glikadi beach,
Papalimani beach and many more, check out the
Thassos beach guide to find other great beaches in the area.
