Skala Rachoni, also known as Skala Rachoniou is a small harbour village up on the north west coast of
Thassos.
It’s just 10km from the islands capital
Limenas and that’s around a 10 to 15 minute drive so visiting the main town or transfer times from the port will be quick and easy.
The village itself is based around the marina and
Skala Rachoni beach, with hotels and restaurants dotted about in the surrounding areas. There’s small guest houses, apartments and a large beach front hotel all available to stay in.
Other facilities in the village are few and far between, there is a mini market and a bakery but no cash machine or car hire outlets.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Skala Rachoni page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The nightlife in Skala Rachoni is pretty low key, there’s a few restaurants and bars but nothing much in the way of evening entertainment, there’s no clubs or karaoke bars but you might be lucky enough to stumble on some Greek dancing or a bouzouki player.
Don’t expect to be partying well into the night, it’s not that kind of a place but you could probably find a bar or restaurant that’ll stay open late if there’s enough people around.
As mentioned, Skala Rachoni has easy access to the capital so you can visit some of the historical sites in the main town like the
Acropolis of Thassos and the
Ancient Agora. There’s also the
Archaeological museum.
Another nice option is to take a day trip to
Skala Prinos, it’s the islands second largest port (after Limenas) and has some lovely restaurants around the harbour where you can sit and watch the boats coming and going. Getting there is easy as it’s just a 15 minute taxi ride down the coast.
