Katastari is a town close to the north east coast of
Zakynthos around 16 kilometres from the capital
Zakynthos Town which is about a 25 minute drive. It’s a 30 minute walk down to the coastal resort of
Alykes.
This picturesque village is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the 17th century
Monastery of Agios Ioannis Prodromos, but its main attraction is its incredible panoramic views and its traditional Greek charm.
Katastari is also home to a folklore museum, where you can explore a stunning collection including silver, embroidery, and traditional agricultural tools. You can also check out the fields those tools once ploughed, the entire village is surrounded by olive groves and vineyards.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Katastari page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
Despite being quite a large spread out village it’s not heavily tourist focused. There’s a bunch of hotels and apartments available but not much in the way of restaurants, bars or other evening entertainment.
Katastari is in a good location, close to both Alykes and
Alykanas and less than half an hours drive from the capital. This is great as you can easily have a night out or take a day trip to those other villages to see what they have to offer.
Another option is to head north to
Askos stone park or to
St Nicholas port where you can get on a boat trip to the
blue caves.
