Spartia is a small village a few miles south east of the airport in
Kefalonia, that journey should take you just under 15 minutes in the car. It’s a little further to the capital
Argostoli but only by a couple of minutes.
It’s not one of the more popular resorts and therefore hasn’t suffered from over population of tourists or been spoiled by loads of tourist amenities meaning it has more of a Greek feel to it than the likes of
Lassi.
Although Spartia is quite a small village it’s surrounding areas are sprawling, there’s little pockets of buildings dotted about all over this region of Kefalonia, most of which are residential houses but some are hotels, guest houses and villas to rent.
The main village centre is where you’ll find a small square with a taverna, church and a shop, there isn’t much else here but that’s what’s so charming about the place, it’s ideal for a calm relaxed break away from the crowds of the main tourist hot-spots or to wander around on a day trip and take in the authentic Greek way of life.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Spartia page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The nightlife in Spartia is, as you might expect, really low key. There’s no clubs, late night bars, karaoke or anything like that. In fact there’s only a couple of places for an evening meal in the main village and a handful more if you count those down by the beach and in the surrounding areas.
The main section of Spartia isn’t on the beach but there are a number of beaches nearby like
Ammes beach,
Agios Thomas beach or
Trapezaki beach so you can take your pick from those or travel round the coast and find somewhere secluded to have to yourself.
Also nearby are the villages of
Svoranata,
Karavados and
Lourdas as well as the
castle of Saint George which has a couple of good tavernas just outside so it’s the perfect place to base yourself or for a nice day out away from the main crowds.
